COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A portion of Powers Boulevard in northeastern Colorado Springs was shut down for several hours Friday due to a multi-vehicle crash.

Police said the crash happened just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Powers Boulevard and Barnes Road. A Waste Connections trash truck was headed southbound on Powers when it failed to stop and hit several vehicles in the intersection.

Police said a total of 11 vehicles were involved in the crash. Four people were hospitalized, but police said none of their injuries were serious.

Police said mechanical issues with the truck may have caused the crash. The driver of the truck, 45-year-old Michael Green, was cited for careless driving causing injury.
