Sexually violent predator moves to Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A sexually violent predator has moved to Colorado Springs, according to police.

Lee Filipiak, 58, lives at 3033 East Platte Avenue Apt. 106, which is near the intersection of East Platte Avenue and North Circle Drive. Police said he is not employed, and does not have a vehicle.

Police said Filipiak is on parole from the Colorado Department of Corrections. He was convicted of sexual assault on a child in Fremont County in 2000. Police said he sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl.

Filipiak’s other criminal convictions include resisting an officer in California in 1975, theft in California in 1978, possession of marijuana in Florida in 1980, burglary in Texas in 1985, reckless conduct in Texas in 1988, indecent exposure in California in 1990, and third-degree assault in Fremont County in 1999 and 2000.

Filipiak is described as a white man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 175 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has several tattoos on both arms, a rose banner tattoo on his chest, scars on the back of his right leg, and a skin graft on his left leg, according to police.

Police said Filipiak is one of 11 sexually violent predators currently registered with the Colorado Springs Police Department.
