Man arrested after sideswiping three vehicles, rear-ending police car

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man was arrested Saturday night after sideswiping three vehicles and rear-ending a police car, according to police.

Police said the incident happened around 9:20 p.m. in the 2500-block of Verde Drive, which is in the area of South Circle Drive and Highway 24. An officer was investigating an unrelated incident when he saw a red truck headed west on Verde. The truck sideswiped three private vehicles parked along the north curb. It then rear-ended the officer’s vehicle, pushing it into two other parked cars.

Police said none of the parked vehicles were occupied. The driver of the truck ran away, leaving a small child in a car seat, but the officer captured him moments later.

Police believe alcohol is a factor in the incident. The driver, 28-year-old William Miles, was arrested.

Police said no injuries were reported.
