Salmonella concerns spark pine nut recall

A Minnesota company is voluntarily recalling pine nuts due to a potential contamination.

Waymouth Farms is recalling their “Raw Pine Nuts” because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people.

The product was distributed nationwide through retail stores and mail order Good Sense brand.

Production of the Pine Nuts has been suspended while Waymouth Farms, Inc. continues their investigation as to the source of the problem.
