Three arrested on various theft, forgery charges in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Three people were arrested on various theft and forgery charges in Colorado Springs Friday afternoon, according to police.

Police arrested Dominiq Jones, 27, and Angela Wallis, 48, on forgery and identity theft charges around 3 p.m. Friday in the 1200-block of San Miguel Street. Police said the two attempted to use a forged check at a business in the 1500-block of Space Center Drive.

Police searched the two suspects and found forged ID cards and counterfeit US currency of various denominations.

A third suspect, Heather Newman, was contacted and released that night. During their follow-up investigation, officers learned that Newman was a suspect in a theft from an at-risk adult. Officers obtained a warrant for Newman’s home. A search of the home found equipment used in the counterfeiting and forging of written instruments, as well as several counterfeit and forged instruments, according to police. Newman was arrested.
