COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Rescue crews are in their second day of searching for 46-year-old Ksenia Quiros in southwestern Colorado Springs.

Police said around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, they were notified that Quiros was suicidal and was possibly in the area of Stratton Open Space. Due to the circumstances, police decided to ping her cell phone and use that information to guide their search. Rescuers looked for her from 10 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. before calling off the search for the night. They began searching again Thursday morning.

As of 2:30 Thursday afternoon, motorcycle teams had completed a sweep of the open space, with no success. Heavy rescue crews were about 75 percent through their assigned search area, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department.

“We are searching Stratton Open Space and the areas along Gold Camp Road,” the department said on Twitter. “Please contact us if you see a match to the picture.”

Quiros is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall with a small build and blonde hair. Police said she is the mother of Air Force Academy cadet Alexandre Quiros, who died April 2.
