The Western Hills Fire in Teller County / Mike Duran - FOX21 News

TELLER COUNTY, Colo. — Investigators have determined the Western Hills fire that burned 100 acres in Teller County Tuesday was accidental.

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office said the fire was caused by a discarded cigarette.

The fire, which broke out Tuesday afternoon south of Florissant, prompted a mandatory evacuation of one subdivision and pre-evacuation orders for two others.

The area was under a Red Flag Warning at the time due to high winds and dry conditions.
