Two found dead in southeastern Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Two people were found dead by a relative in southeastern Colorado Springs Friday morning.

Police said they responded to the 1300 block of Babcock Road, which is in the area of Galley Road and North Powers Boulevard, around 9:40 a.m. When they arrived, officers found a man and woman dead inside a home. Police said the man and woman, who were husband and wife, had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.

“We’re definitely waiting until an autopsy can be performed from the El Paso County Coroner’s Office to determine the manner of death, and we’re investigating,” said LT. Catherine Buckley, public information officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department.

CSPD said all investigations start the same way. This one was no exception.

“We start at the beginning,” said Buckely. “We look at the physical evidence at the scene. We interview any type of witnesses we can find.”

Buckley said the first 48 hours are critical when it comes to solving a case like this.

“We have detectives that are assigned as victim detectives,” said Buckley. “We have detectives that are assigned as witness detectives. We do basically a complete mockup of the last 24 to 48 hours of these person’s lives.”

Police said there is no known threat to the neighborhood. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit
