Mayoral candidate John Suthers: “This is not foreign territory for me”

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — In a recent poll by the Colorado Springs Independent and FOX21 News, John Suthers is considered the front-runner in the race for mayor of Colorado Springs.

Recently serving as Colorado’s Attorney General, Suthers has called Colorado Springs home his whole life.

“I’ve watched it (Colorado Springs) grow from 40,000 people to 450,000 people and become the 44th largest city in the U.S,” said Suthers.

Suthers said his extensive political background will get Colorado Springs on the road to success.

“I’ve managed the largest public office of Colorado as Attorney General for the last 10 years,” said Suthers. “One of the jobs I’ve had here in Colorado Springs was I ran the Colorado Department of Corrections. It has more than three times the employees as the city of Colorado Springs.”

His campaign has revolved around political development in the city, fixing the infrastructure, and creating more jobs.

“Obviously there’s going to be no tax increases unless the voters want it, so we’re going to have to have a candid and frank conversation with the voters about what they want to do about these infrastructure problems,” said Suthers.

Confident in any challenge that would come his way, Suthers said there are things that set him apart from the competition.

“No other candidate in the race has the state and national contacts that I have developed as Attorney General. I will make sure Colorado Springs is at the table when federal funds or state funds are made available for economical development,” said Suthers.

Suthers wants open communication at all times, and with his leadership skills and impressive resume he hopes to impress voters on election day.
