Vehicle slides through stop sign, hits house in northeastern Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — A vehicle slid through a stop sign and hit a house in northeastern Colorado Springs early Wednesday morning, according to police.

Police said the accident happened around 2:45 a.m. in the area of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Dublin Boulevard. The driver was headed southbound on Pioneer Mesa Drive, just north of Sand Hill Drive. As he approached the intersection, he tried to stop at the stop sign, but began to slide on the icy road and could not stop.

The vehicle headed straight into the driveway of 5041 Sand Hill Drive and hit the east corner of the house.

Police said the home was unoccupied at the time of the crash, and no one was injured. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
