Pedestrian cited after being hit by vehicle while crossing Academy Boulevard

A man was cited after being hit by a vehicle while crossing Academy Boulevard early Sunday morning.

Colorado Springs police said the accident happened around 12:45 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Academy Boulevard and Village Road South in eastern Colorado Springs. Officers responded to find 27-year-old Kyle Broyles injured in the roadway.

Police found the driver who hit Broyles had been following traffic laws, and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. That driver, a 45-year-old man, remained on the scene.

Police found Broyles had been crossing the roadway against the traffic control device when he was hit. Police said he was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.

Police said Broyles was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
