Colorado Springs Utilities announces job cuts, rate hikes

Colorado Springs Utilities announced job cuts and rate hikes Monday.

The utilities board approved the 2015 budget, which comes in more than $70 million less than the 2014 budget.

CSU plans to cut 100 positions, and they said they’re already looking for more places to save. Residents will see a 2 percent increase to their utility bills. There could also be a 5.5 percent increase to the electric portion of the bill to fund required environmental clean air investments, but that must be approved by city council.
