Woman arrested on DUI charge after crashing into Colorado Springs home

A Colorado Springs woman was arrested Saturday after driving into a house, and then leaving the scene.

Police said the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2400-block of East St. Vrain Street. That’s near the intersection of Union Boulevard and Platte Avenue in eastern Colorado Springs.

Police said 56-year-old Theresa Clark damaged a fence at one home and then drove into another home, causing heavy damage. Clark left the crash site and officers found her at her home nearby.

“It’s weird to see the inside of somebody’s house with a giant hole in it, where the car literally drove right through it,” neighbor Debra Coolidge said. “I mean, the whole wall is missing.”

“Very lucky,” Colorado Springs Fire Department lieutenant David Barron said. “If he would have been standing where the car impacted the front of the house, he could be really injured, or even dead.”

Clark was arrested for DUI and other traffic charges.
