Pueblo police policy on burglary calls to change

The Pueblo Police Department is changing its policy on responding to burglary calls following complaints from victims.

Police previously gave cases where the suspects had already fled a lower priority because there were no imminent safety threats to property owners.

The department says officers will now respond more quickly because police understand a break-in at a person’s home can be traumatic.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports
the new policy requires a supervisor to contact victims if other officers are tied up and assure them someone will respond as quickly as possible.
