Body found near abandoned crashed vehicle along Highway 67

A body has been found in the area of a crashed vehicle along Highway 67, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The search began when sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of mile marker 89 on Highway 67 near the Douglas/Teller county line around 8:15 Monday morning. The Colorado State Patrol had found an abandoned crash in that area, which is about 15 miles north of Woodland Park, near Rainbow Falls.

Officials determined the vehicle was associated with 57-year-old Kathleen Ann Leber of Woodland Park, who had been reported missing from Woodland Park at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officials said the vehicle had gone through a wire fence and came to rest hitting a tree. It sustained minor damage. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue were sent to the crash site to search the immediate area.

Sheriff’s deputies said a body was found in the area around 3:00 p.m. Monday. They could not provide any details about the identification of the body, or where it was found.

Leber is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 115 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

We will update this story as we learn more information.
