Recipes for your Halloween bash

Patrick Reitmayer from Salt of the Earth Catering has both sweet and savory recipes for your Halloween Bash.

Jack-O-Latern Cheese Ball

3 green onions, divided
16 oz cream cheese, softened
2 C cheddar cheese
1 red pepper, finely chopped
2 slices pepperoni

Trim “stem” from green onions, chop the rest.

Beat cream cheese and 1 1/4 C cheddar with mixer until well blended.  Stir in sliced onions and peppers.  Refrigerate for 1 hour.

Shape into ball, roll in remaining cheddar.  Cut pepperoni into eyes, nose, and mouth shapes, press into cheese to make face.  Insert green onion in top for stem.

Serve with veggies and crackers.


Candy Corn Crispy Treats

1/4 C butter
6 C mini marshmallows
12 drops yellow food coloring
4 drops red food coloring
6 C crisp rice cereal
2 C candy corn

Microwave butter in large bowl for 45 seconds, or until melted.  Add marshmallows, toss to coat.  Microwave for 1 1/2 minutes, or until marshmallows are totally melted and mixture is well blended.  Stir in food coloring half way through.

Add cereal and candy, mix well.  Press onto bottom of 9X13 inch pan, sprayed with cooking spray.

Cool completely before cutting.
