A man was shot in the hand in eastern Colorado Springs Sunday evening, according to Colorado Springs police.

Police said the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the 3400-block of Van Tylingen Drive, which is near the intersection of Academy Boulevard and Carefree Circle. The victim told police he was walking in an open field when he heard a “pop” and felt pain in his left hand. The victim said he looked down and believed he had been shot in his hand. He saw a dark-colored unknown-make sedan traveling north on Van Tylingen, but could not provide further description, and did not see who had shot at him.

The victim was treated and released at a local hospital.
