Meth, stolen guns uncovered during overnight traffic stop

Possible meth and stolen guns were found during a routine traffic stop early Monday morning, according to Colorado Springs police.

Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 1900 block of East Platte Avenue at about 4:40 a.m. That’s near the area of Platte and North Union Boulevard.

The driver, 23-year-old Steven Vigil, was immediately detained because he was already wanted on a misdemeanor warrant/summons.

Two other people in the vehicle were also contacted. Daniel Quidachay, 32, provided officers with false person identifying information, police said. He was detained.

When officers searched the vehicle, they found two guns that were previously reported stolen. An undisclosed amount of suspected methamphetamine was also recovered.

Both Vigil and Quidachay are now facing charges of Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Theft and other miscellaneous charges.
