Man accused of test driving vehicles to steal from Pueblo storage units

Phillip Vallejos, accused of burglarizing several storage units in Pueblo

Pueblo police have now arrested the man they suspect of stealing from several storage units and stealing a truck from a dealership.

He was identified as 47-year-old Phillip Vallejos.

According to police, Vallejos is accused of contacting a local used car dealer to test drive a vehicle.

He would then, police said, use the test drive vehicle to go to different rental storage facilities. When at those storage facilities, police said he would cut the locks off storage units and steal items.

Police said a number of storage unit renters have yet to file reports on their stolen property. Anyone who believes they are a victim of this crime is asked to file a police report.

Valejos remains at the Pueblo County Jail on a parole violation. He is facing charges of Second Degree Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools and Auto Theft. He has a listed bond of $25,000.

Any further information about the recent rental storage burglaries is asked to contact Detective Herrera at (719) 553-2535.
