Motorcycle driver killed after crashing into deer in El Paso County

The driver of a motorcycle was killed Sunday evening after he crashed into a deer and rolled on Rock Canyon Road, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP.) 

CSP has identified the driver as 53-year-old- Karl Lucas of Colorado Springs.

The crash happened at about 7:50 p.m., on Rock Canyon Road just west of Highway 115.

According to CSP, a 2008 Harley Davidson was traveling west on Rock Creek Canyon Road when a deer came from the south side of the road. The motorcycle then hit the deer.

CSP said that after the collision, the motorcycle continued to roll onto its left side and ejected the driver. It came to a rest about 110 feet west of the point of impact. The driver came to rest about 10 feet east of the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither alcohol or drug use are not considered factors in this crash, CSP said.
