Yes – that’s right. A bear was spotted in downtown Colorado Springs Monday morning.

“There was a bear downtown,” said Lt. Catherine Buckley with the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The bear cub was spotted running around by the El Paso County Courthouse at about 6:30 a.m.

According to police, the bear was seen leaving the area.

Lt. Buckley said it’s not unusual for a bear to be in an area close to water sources.

“Bears can come up in those water sources,” she said. “Monument Valley State Park is the perfect example.”

Fountain and Monument Creeks run in the downtown area.
