Memorial service set for fallen Fort Carson Special Forces soldier

A Fort Carson soldier killed in Afghanistan earlier this month is set to be honored at a memorial service on Tuesday.

Staff Sgt. Patrick Quinn was killed in action on Oct. 13. The 26-year-old Special Forces Solider was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne.)

According to the Department of Defense, he died after “the enemy attacked his base with small arms fire.”

Quinn was from Quarryville, Pa. He is survived by his wife and their three sons.

The memorial service is set for 3 p.m., Tuesday at the Soldiers’ Memorial Chapel on post at Fort Carson. The service will include a traditional roll call, a rifle salute and a final tribute with the playing of Taps.
