Motorcycle crash kills Colorado Springs man

A Colorado Springs man was killed in a motorcycle crash near Buena Vista on Sunday afternoon, according to Colorado State Patrol (CSP.)

At about 1:50 p.m., CSP was called to the crash on US Highway 24, about eight miles east of Johnson Village, or Trout Creek Pass.

According to CSP, a silver 1986 Honda Goldwing was traveling eastbound on the highway when it drifted off the right side of the road. The motorcycle then, CSP said, traveled down a steep embankment and overturned an unknown number of times for more than 150 feet.

Both of the people on the bike were ejected, CSP said.

The driver, 51-year-old Alan Coke of Colorado Springs, died at the scene. Angie Coke, 44, was taken to Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida with ‘serious injuries.’

Investigation into the cause of this crash remains under investigation. CSP said excessive speed and alcohol are not considered to have been factors in this crash.
