Police: Man stabbed at Colorado Springs church

Colorado Springs police have arrested a man after he was accused of stabbing another man at a church early Monday morning.

Police were called to a reported stabbing at the Southgate Nazarene Church, located in the 1600 block of East Cheyenne Road, near Interstate 25, at about 2:10 a.m.

Officers said they learned the pastor of the church had been allowing members of the homeless community to sleep in the church’s basement.

The victim was identified as a 36-year-old man. He was not able to be interviewed because he was transported to a hospital in life-threatening condition.

Police identified the suspect as 42-year-old William Thomas. He was taken into custody and charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder.
