Parts of Highway 24 were closed because of flooding Monday afternoon, according to officials.

The highway was reopened at about 4:15 p.m. Alternate routes are advised, though.

City officials asked residents to avoid all areas west of I-25 on Highway 24.

A Flash Flood Warning that was set to last until 5:30 p.m., was canceled at about 4:10.

Manitou Springs residents reported that flood sirens did go off for a short time.

According to the National Weather Service, about one inch of rain fell near Cascade. There were also reports of about one foot of water on Highway 24 near that area.

The Pikes Peak Chapter of the American Red Cross said it  opened an evacuation center at 1st Historic Community Congregational Church. That’s located at 103 Pawnee Avenue.

Additionally, Colorado Springs police were placed on ‘Accident Alert’ status.
