Colorado Springs police are continuing to search for the person responsible for shooting and killing a dog late Sunday night.

According to police, a 24-year-old man was walking his dog at about 10 p.m., in the 800 block of Yuma Street, near Platte Avenue and North Circle Drive. He was meeting up with his 16-year-old nephew who was playing basketball with other friends.

That’s when, police said, a person inside a vehicle fired five shots at the man and the boys.

None of the boys were shot but unfortunately, one of the victim’s dogs was shot and killed, police said.

Additionally, police said a townhome and a vehicle in the area were struck.

The suspect vehicle was described as a white 2000 or a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. Because of heavily-tinted windows, police said no further suspect description was available.

Any information on this shooting can be reported to police at (719) 444-7000.
