Air Force defeats Colorado College 2-1

Casey Kleisinger scored the game-winning goal late in the second period as Air Force hung on to beat Colorado College 2-1 in men’s college hockey on Friday.

The game between two of the top-scoring teams in college hockey was low-scoring thanks to tight defense and a standout effort by Air Force netminder Stephen Caple.

Colorado College (11-6-0) came into the game as the nation’s top scoring offense at 4.19 goals per game. The Tigers put 34 shots on goal, but Caple made 33 saves.

The Falcons (10-4-2), sixth in the nation in scoring, were held to just 17 shots. But Kleisinger and Scott Mathis found the net against the sixth-ranked Tigers.

Michael Boivin scored to pull Colorado College within a goal at 7:50 of the third period. But Caple stopped the other 16 shots he saw in the final period.

Josh Thorimbert had 15 saves for the Tigers.
